NedTrain is building a new factory to support the Dutch Railways in their migration to a new type of wheels. For planning, management and training purposes, a small-scale version of the factory was required to visualize and optimize processes.
An optimal level of detail has been chosen, which resulted in a footprint of 1.8 by 1.8 meters. We chose for a coated aluminium groundplane, with the positions of the machines engraved. The objects are loosely placed in their positions, which enhances picking pieces up and moving them around. The objects are printed and assembled in-house.
As new machines are added to the factory the maquette is updated as well.
